Chris Baumler from Chaffee, North Dakota has been a team member at Malstrom Electric for 10 years and has been in the trade for 14 years. Chris leads the residential side of the business, managing & estimating projects. He specializes in high-end residential projects, having led residential projects greater than 10,000 finished square feet. Chris is Malstrom Electric’s operating Master Electrician; he is licensed in Minnesota and North Dakota.
About Us
Malstrom Electric was started in 1999 by brothers Brad and Jay Malstrom. The brothers started the business out of Brad’s garage in Detroit Lakes. A pillar that Malstrom Electric was founded upon is taking care of our customers, our team, and doing things the right way. Brad and Jay had a strong belief that these principals are vital to the long-term success of the company and all its stakeholders. In 2023 Brad and Jay passed the torch to employees Chris Baumler, Jeremy Haus, and Garrett Malstrom who had bought into Malstrom Electric. Brad and Jay mentored this group before passing the torch off and are still a key reference to this day.
Meet The Owners
Jeremy Haus from Fergus Falls, Minnesota has been a team member at Malstrom Electric for 8 years and has been in the trade for 20 years. Jeremy leads the commercial and agricultural side of the business, managing & estimating projects. He specializes in commercial projects, toy sheds, & bin sites, having led commercial projects such as the Detroit Lakes City Hall, Detroit Lakes Police Department, and the Boys & Girls Club of Detroit Lakes. He had also led several large projects while working in Fargo, North Dakota such as Drekker Brewing, Aldevron, and several treatments facilities.
Garrett Malstrom from Vergas, Minnesota has been a team member at Malstrom Electric unofficially from the start helping run parts and tools on service calls and projects with his dad, Jay. Garrett leads the office end of the business, primarily working as a controller and helping Chris and Jeremy estimate projects on both sides. Garrett has his master's in business administration from North Dakota State University, with an emphasis in managerial accounting. While at NDSU, Garrett played football for the Bison and was a member of several National Championship teams.
