Outlets in Backsplash: Outlets in Backsplash are just your standard or screwless outlet plate that lays on top of your backsplash behind your sink or oven.

Angled Plug Mold: Plug Mold is a strip or track containing multiple outlets that can be mounted. Angled Plug Mold just suggests that the outlet strip is angled to fit under cabinets or cornered spaces.

Why is Angled Plug Mold better?

Electricity and Water Safety

E lectricity and water are two things that are awesome alone, but when mixed can create a dangerous combination. There are some very important precautions to take when there is the potential that these two forces may collide. Your lake power, bathroom, kitchen, or any outlets near a source of water may be a hazard if not properly protected.

Safety First

Hundreds of people every year pass away from water related electrocutions. Something that you can do to protect you and your loved ones is ensure that your home has proper GFCI protection. GFCI protection can come from a breaker that is GFCI protected or a device that has built in GFCI protection. These devices are commonly identified as having a reset button on them and are also known as GFIs, as GFI and GFCI are interchangeable.

GFCI Protection

A GFCI device, or ground fault circuit interrupter device is used to protect people from electrical shock. What the device does is it monitors the amount of power going to the device. So if you are using an electric device and accidentally drop it in water or it is exposed to water, the device will detect an interruption in current and cut the power potentially saving your life. So as much of a nuisance that the reset button on GFCI devices or a tripping GFCI breaker can be is actually quite understandable when its intention is understood.

Smoke Detector Awareness

A n absolute necessity for any home is updated smoke detectors. Smoke detectors are designed to detect the presence of smoke or fire in an area and provide early warning. This early warning can be crucial in allowing people to escape a fire before it becomes life-threatening.

Maintain Your Smoke Detectors

According to the U.S. Fire Administration, you should Maintain your smoke detectors to ensure safety and limit costly repairs. So, in order to properly maintain a smoke detector, you should:

Test your smoke detectors regularly (once a month) by pressing the test button to ensure they are functioning correctly.
Change the batteries at least once a year or when the low-battery warning chirps.
Vacuum the detectors regularly to remove dust and debris that can interfere with their operation.
Replace smoke detectors every 10 years, as their sensitivity can diminish over time.

Location and Placement

Smoke detectors should be installed in specific locations within your home. They should be placed on every level of the house, in each bedroom, and in the hallway outside sleeping areas.

Smoke detectors are more effective when mounted on the ceiling or high on the wall. This positioning allows them to detect smoke and rising heat effectively.

Due to the potential for false alarms caused by cooking smoke or steam, it's best to place smoke detectors away from kitchens and bathrooms. Consider using heat detectors instead.

NEC and Your Detectors

As per the NEC, National Electrical Code, you must have a Carbon/Smoke Detector within 10 feet of every bedroom and a Smoke Detector inside every bedroom. So, another thing to do to ensure safety would be to check your smoke and carbon detection devices and make sure your home is up to code.

Incandescent bulbs that were the run-of-the-mill option in many homes and offices for so long are now getting ousted thanks to the LED bulb. LED bulbs and fixtures can be more than 7X efficient compared to a typical incandescent bulb. That means 7X the savings.
